A typescript of an updated version of the Medieval Welsh folktale, Branwen ferch Llyr, entitled Y Dywysoges Ofidus.

Administrative / Biographical History

Islwyn Ffowc Elis was born in Wrexham in 1924 and raised in Dyffryn Ceiriog. He attended school at Llangollen and then the University College of North Wales.

His first novel, Cysgod y Cryman, 1953, is considered to be a watershed in Welsh literature and in 1999 was declared joint Welsh book of the century.

He served as a Presbyterian minister at Llanfair Caereinion, Montgomeryshire and Newborough, Anglesey before becoming a full-time writer.

He married Eirlys Owen in 1950 and they had one daughter. He died in January 2004.
