Scope and Content

This collection consists of two books and nine pamphlets on midwifery and birth control. These publications were used by nurse Cordelia May Ferguson for the provision of pulic health information in her role as a district nurse. Including:

1. The Nurse's Dictionary, compiled by Honnor Morton, 2nd Edition. Pocket size. 1899;

2. Nursing Notes on Midwifery by Araminta Ross, 7th edition. Pocket size, c.1920;

3. Scientific Birth Control leaflet advertising Speton tablets by Coates & Cooper Ltd. c.1920;

4. Modern contraception technique promotion leaflet by Durex. c.1950;

5. Gynaecological Hints promotional leaflet for Antiphlogistine by the Denver Chemical Manufacturing Co., 1931;

6. Illustrated brochure of Surgical Appliances supplied by A. Lambert & Co. 'The wife's guide and friend', 1926;

7. Central Midwives Board for England & Wales pamphlet 'Pemphigus in the newborn child'., 1927;

8. Central Midwives Board for England & Wales rules, 1924;

9. Central Midwives Board for England & Wales, Rules section E, regulating, supervising and restricting within due limits the practice of midwifes, 1921, 1934, 1947.
