Scope and Content

The group are seated outside the entrance to what is taken to be a mine and many of them hold mallets and another object [long and thin, with a loop or hook at one end, possibly a candle or explosive or thin digging implement]. The group includes men, boys and girls who are mostly dressed in shorts or loin cloths. There are a few Africans dressed in 'western' clothes and caps or helmets, standing to the back of the group along with the Europeans. Elephants are in the background.

[Original print was very faded; now scanned and enlarged / enhanced. A Llanberis address was on the back of the original frame.]
