The collection consists of the poetical works of Gwilym Pennant, all composed for poetical meetings and entry in Eisteddfod competitions (national and regional), 1864 - 1891. In addition, his adjudication of a poem and a scrapbook of his own poetical addresses.

Administrative / Biographical History
William Powell (Gwilym Pennant) was born in Dolbenmaen, Caernarfonshire in 1830. He worked in the Llanberis slate quarries until 1852 and then moved to London as a stonemason. He was a typical poet of the Victorian era, a fervent Eisteddfod competitor but very rarely a first prize winner. His work was published in Yr Herald and Y Faner amongst other periodicals. He married twice and had five children. He died in 1902.
Arrangement
The collection has been incorporated into the General Collection of Bangor Manuscripts and arranged chronologically.
