Administrative / Biographical History

The University of Leeds Society for Social Study was founded in October 1906 with the aim of enabling students to obtain a better understanding of social and economic problems by means of lectures, discussions and excursions. Reports of its activities were published regularly in the University journal, The Gryphon, until 1923. Details of the Society's objects, officers and programme of events last appear in the Leeds University Union Handbook and Diary for the session 1926-27.
