This collection is made up of telegrams sent to the Rochdale Equitable Pionneers Society in 1944 to congratulate them on reaching their hundredth anniversary. Most give very similar small messages of congratulations with only a few saying more than a line. These telegrams appear mostly to be from Scandinavian countries.

Administrative / Biographical History
The Rochdale Equitable Pioneers' Society was formed in 1844 and is widely regarded as the first modern co-operative society. They devised a set of 8 principles which inspired others to set up co-operative societies. In 1944 the co-operative movement celebrated the 100th anniversary of the society.
