Personal papers of Peter D. Strachan relating to his time as editor of the Buchan Observer. The collection is comprised mainly of typescript notes and articles prepared for Stovies, Annals and Perriwinkle Miscellanies, regular columns in the Buchan Observer, which relate to the area's local history, c 1957 - 1983. Topics covered include Angus Gavin, Longside ecologist; effects of proposed North Sea gas terminal at Crimond airfield on the Loch of Strathbeg; building of Lanabo army base during World War One; the Lick Memorial Monument; Peterhead first Board of Health; The Albert Saga; and many more. There are also typescript copies of Dobbies Knock: the Keith Mason and the Wynd Well Jacobites and The Herring, by John Lowe Duthie; and printed copies of Annie G. Buchan, Adventures in Faith (Peterhead: The Buchan Observer and P. Scrogie, 1973) and Fenton Wyness, A Buchan Tower-House: the Story of the House of Schivas (Peterhead; The Buchan Observer and P. Scrogie, n.d.).
