The Wynne Collection comprises approximately 200 items published between 1850 and 1900. Most of the textual content falls within the general category of adventure stories written for boys, some based on historical events. Most of the stories are set in exotic spaces and both reflected and fuelled contemporary interest in foreign and unfamiliar territories. The Collection was originally put together in order to contextualise the writing of G.A. Henty and to assess his position amongst contemporary writers of adventure fiction 1850 - 1900.
