The records consist of the following:
- Volumes 1-3: Archbishop Sharp's manuscript compilations on the archbishops of York, the metropolitan church of York and the parishes in the diocese. c.1700.
- Volume 4:Liber archiepiscopi Ebor: Statuta etc. 1697 (includes extracts from chapter acts 1504).
- Volume 5: Thomas Lamplugh's book of the diocese. 1713.
- Volume 6: book of the diocese, temp. Blackburn.
- Volume 7: Diocese of York. Annotation in Drummond's hand, 1761.
- Volume 8: volume on Southwell. 1777.
- Volume 9: an account of all the benefices in the diocese. 1839.
- Volume 10: Archbishops of York, 622-1909, compiled temp. Herring (entries from 1743 onwards are in handwriting of each archbishop).
- Volume 11: Diocesan Statutes (summaries of church work and finance). 1891-1938.
- Volume 12: Archdeacon Hayter's copy of volume 3 for the archdeaconry of York, excluding the Doncaster deanery. 1730-49.
