Administrative / Biographical History

In 1924, the family of the donor moved to Field Farm, Burghfield from Chorley Manor Farm. The husband of the donor took over his father's farm in 1934 and died in 1959. The donor is now (June 1966) tenant in partnership with two sons. She is a member of the Bowden/Bucknell family which moved from Devon at the end of the 19th century. Field Farm is 240 acres of mixed gravel and clay soils and part of the Benyon Estate
