Scope and Content

Manuscript instrumental parts, 1911-1912, of the cantata, Aelwyd Angharad, by J. Lloyd Williams.
They comprise parts for violin 1 (2 copies: ff. 1-12, 13-24), violin 2 (2 copies: ff. 25-36, 37-48), cello and bass (2 copies: ff. 49-62, 63-74), flute (ff. 75-82), oboe (ff. 83-8), clarinet (ff. 89-98), drums and triangle, etc. (ff. 99-100), all apparently orchestrated by J. Charles McLean.

Charles McLean apparently enquires as to the location of these 'band parts' in a letter, 1930, to J. Lloyd Williams (NLW, Dr J. Lloyd Williams Music MSS and Papers, AM1/3/16). He states that he had given his scored parts to David Williams of Porthmadog many years previously.
