His collection comprises mainly printed material on the history of North Eastern Methodism, arranged by area, including chapel centenary leafelts, booklets, service sheets etc. There is also some local history material mainly for Sunderland and Newcastle upon Tyne, and some odd copies of 19th century local newspapers, some originals and others facsimiles, and the occasional book (such as A Voyage to the Pacific Ocean ... with Captains Cook, Clerke and Gore (4th end 1793)) and map (copy of John Ogilby's Whitby-Tynemouth Road (1675)), along with some original documents, photocopies and transcripts of documents, photographs both original and copy B&W prints 19th/20th centuries, and newspaper cuttings.

Administrative / Biographical History
Geoffrey Milburn (died 24 December 2006) was a History lecturer at Sunderland Polytechnic and author of many books especially on Methodism, Nonconformity and the local history of the North East. For 30 years, he was editor of the journal of the North East Branch of the Wesley Historical Society.

Separated Material
231 of his pamphlets have been incorporated into the general PamSC (closed access) and PamL (open access) sequences at PGL. 53 of his books have been incorporated into the Bill Bryson Library main book sequences in April 2008.
Books, microfilms and printouts re the 1851 religious census were transferred to Teesside University in May 2008
