Scope and Content

Microfilms of volumes 21-37 of the Doat collection. Most of the material is in the form of transcripts of Inquisitions' records of the 13th and 14th centuries. Doat volumes 21-6, and part of 31 contain interrogations and penances from the mid-13th century: vols. 21-2, 24-5 for the diocese of Toulouse; 23, 26 and 31 for the diocese of Carcassonne. Doat volumes 27-8 contain later penances from Carcassonne. Doat volumes 29-37 contain further documents concerning Inquisition procedures, sentences, seizure of goods from heretics and related legal proceedings: volumes 36-7 relate to the diocese of Carcassone.

Administrative / Biographical History

The Doat collection in the Bibliothque Nationale, Paris, relates to a survey of the rights of the French crown in southern France, late 17th century.
