Scope and Content

Collection consists of, mainly black and white photographs, of Laura Knight's paintings and of subjects associated with her paintings. The photographs are arranged by subject and include: personal photographs, including portraits of Laura Knight; landscapes; circus people; people and dancers. Administrative / Biographical History

Dame Laura Knight (1877-1970) was one of Britain's most popular artists during the first half of the twentieth century. She is chiefly known for her technically accomplished paintings of circus and ballet scenes.
