Records of Anglesey Women's Institutes, 1917 - 2007, consisting mainly of Minute books, Financial records, registers and Programmes. The fonds includes records of the Anglesey (Gwynedd - Isle of Anglesey) Federation of Women's Institutes, 1927 - 2007, including Minutes, 1927 - 2010. Financial records, 1930 - 1992. Records relating to the W. I. Market, Brynsiencyn, 1976 - 1993. W. I. Market Llangefni, 1977 - 1993.

The Women's Institute movement originated in Canada in 1897. In 1915 the National Federation of Women's Institutes (NFWI) was founded in Britain, originally as part of the Agricultural Organisation Society (AOS). The first Institute was in Llanfairpwll, Anglesey. Individual Institutes are self-governing and are grouped into county federations which together make up the NFWI. The WI encourages women to participate in community life, cultural projects and public campaigns. The Anglesey Federation of Women's Institutes was formed in 1930 and became known as the Gwynedd - Isle of Anglesey Federation from 1974.

Arranged into four volumes: Volume one consists of Anglesey Federation of Women's Institutes, Amlwch, Bodedern, Bodffordd, Bro Goronwy, Bryngwran, Brynsiencyn, Crugyll, Dwyran, Gwalchmai, Holyhead, Llandegfan, Llandrygarn and Bodwrog, Llanddaniel, Llanddeusant and Llantrisant, Llanddwyn, Llanfaethlu, Llanfechell, Llangefni, Llangoed, Llansadwrn, Marianglas, Menai Bridge, Penmon, Rhoscolyn, Rhosybol, Talwrn, Tegfan, RAF Valley, WI Market; Volume two consists of Anglesey Federation of Women's Institutes, Brynsiencyn, Holyhead, Llaingoch, Llanallgo and Llaneugrad, Llanddwyn, Llangaffo; Llangefni, Llansadwrn, Penmon, Pentraeth, Rhos y Bol, Trefdraeth, Anglesey WI Markets Ltd, WI Market Brynsiecyn, WI Market Llangefni; Volume three consists of Anglesey (Gwynedd - Isle of Anglesey) Federation of Women's Institutes, Benllech, Brynsiencyn, Caergeiliog, Cemaes, Gaerwen, Llandegfan, Llanddaniel, Llanddona, Llanedwen, Llanerchymedd, Llanfechell, Llangristiolus, Llansadwrn, Llaingoch, Meashyfryd, Menai Bridge, Pentraeth, Rhosyr, Tegfan, Trefdraeth, Tynygongl, Llanfairpwll, Llanedwen, Gaerwen, Menai Bridge, Llanddaniel and Penmynydd WI Group.Volume four consists of Anglesey (Gwynedd - Isle of Anglesey) Federation of Women's Institutes, Beaumaris , Bryn Du, Cefni Grwp/Group, Cybi Group, Dwyran, Eilian Grwp/Group, Llanddeusant & Llantrisant, Llanfairpwll, Marianglas & Moelfre, Mechell, Menai Group, Rhosneigr, Trefdraeth and Valley.
