Dance theatre programmes collection

A collection of over 3,000 dance theatre programmes from over 500 national and international dancers and dance companies including: Merce Cunningham Dance Company, Martha Graham Dance Company, Rosemary Butcher Dance Company, Ballet for All, Jose Limon Dance Company, Les Ballets Africains, Ballets Jooss, Trisha Brown, Ballets Negres, Katherine Dunham, Michael Clark Company, Ballets Russes du Col. W. de Basil, Alvin Ailey Amercian Dance Theatre, American Ballet Theatre, Ballet Rambert, Rambert Dance Company, Grand Ballets du Marquis de Cuevas, Joffrey Ballet, London Contemporary Dance Theatre, Nederlands Dans Theatre, New York City Ballet, Northern Ballet Theatre, Paul Taylor Dance Company, Western Theatre Ballet, the Kirov Ballet, Dance Umbrella, Adventures in Motion Pictures, British Dance Theatre, the Cholmondeleys and the Featherstonehaughs, Extemporary Dance Company, English National Ballet, Ram Gopal, International Ballet, Ballets des Champs-Elysees, London Festival Ballet, National Ballet of Canada, Original Ballet Russe, the Royal Ballet, Scottish Ballet, Sadlers Wells Royal Ballet, Sadlers Wells Theatre Ballet, Second Stride, and Janet Smith and Dancers, amongst others. Some progammes are annotated.

This Collection is a compilation of dance theatre programmes from other collections in the Laban Archive, mainly the Peter Brinson Collection and the Peter Williams Collection, and from private donations.

The Collection is arranged alphabetically by dance company name.

Some unannotated dance theatre programmes of national and international ballet companies have been transferred to the Royal Opera House Collections, the National Resource Centre for Dance, Rambert Dance Company and the Royal Academy of Dancing to fill gaps in their collections. Duplicates have been weeded.

Occasional donations of dance theatre programmes are received and added to this Collection.

Dance theatre programmes can also be found in the Peter Brinson Collection, the Peter Williams Collection, the Stuart Hopps Collection and the Lorna Wilson Collection held in the Laban Archive.
