Administrative / Biographical History
Daniel Davies (1840-1916) was born at Tregaron, Ceredigion. From 1965 he worked as a cashier to the Ocean Collieries at Ton, Ystrad, Rhondda. He took an active part in the life of Jerusalem C. M. chapel, Ton, and regularly contributed to the Welsh periodical press, particularly to Calvinistic Methodist papers and to Y Brython, 1861-3, Y Genhinen and Cymru. He also published a number of pamphlets and edited the sermons of Islwyn (William Thomas Williams, 1832-1878) and wrote an introductory biographical note to Gwaith Barddonol Islwyn, 1897.
