Two unpublished manuscript memoirs by Michael Audland.

'A Stroll Through Arakan', details Micheal Audland's experiences as a Regular Army Gunner Officer with the 2nd Gold Coast Light Battery of the 82nd West African Division during the Second World War. The memoir relates Audland's life in the pre-war period and his wartime and immediate post-war experiences in India, Burma and the Gold Coast, which particular reference to the 1944-1945 Arakan campaign in Burma.

'The Suez Operation in 1956 and Michael Audland's Small Part in It', consists of the diary entries of Major Michael Audland for the period August 6th 1958 to January 7th 1957. Major Audland was during this time a General Staff Officer Grade 2 (GS02) in HQ 2 Corps, which had been hastily organised to plan and execute the operation to regain control of the Suez Canal.

Michael Audland was born on November 19th 1923 in Cologne, Germany. The son of a British Army officer stationed in the Rhine, Audland was educated at Winchester College, England. Following the outbreak of the Second World War, Audland was commissioned into the Royal Artillery in June 1943. After five months training in India he travelled to Burma to take part with the 2nd Gold Coast Light Battery of the 82nd West African Division in the 1944-1945 Araken campaign.

Between 1946 and 1949 Audland was stationed with the Battery in Ghana. After returning to the UK he was appointed as a training Captain for the Royal Artillery at Rhyl. After gaining a place at The Army Staff College, Audland was posted to the Department of Staff Duties in The War Office before being appointed to join the HQ 2 Corps for the planning of the Suez Operation in 1956.
