Scope and Content

Material collected and created as part of the National Theatre's Black British Playwrights Archive. The project was initiated by the playwright Kwame Kwei Armah with a plan to create a resource for the study of work by black British playwrights. The project is primarily a web based resource, the main resources being a production database, bibliography, union catalogue, essays, and digital audio and video recordings of extracts of plays, interviews with practitioners. The series catalogued here are extracts, interviews, images, and essays. The collection is catalogued to item level and divided into series and sub-series describing the various recordings, commissioning and administrative work of the project.
