Scope and Content

The collection contains many extra-illustrated volumes dispersed throughout the Restricted Volumes section of Special Collections on a variety of subjects, as well as a number of categories of portraits of individuals.

Administrative / Biographical History

The portrait images were extracted from book sources and collected in loose format by John Doyle Fry as a recreational activity. The extra-illustrated volumes were compiled by Albert Magnus Fry, John Doyle Fry and Priscilla A. Fry.

Acquisition Information

The collection was bequeathed to the University of Bristol by Miss E.B. Fry, the estate of Albert Magnus Fry, and Priscilla Fry.
