Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
The donor's family, long established in the Littleport area, has occupied one farm for over 120 years. During the inter-war years the family was primarily concerned with pedigree Frisian cattle and (after 1925) with sugar beet. There was however a large acreage of potatoes, with wheat and barley. The donor himself took a Cambridge degree in Agriculture: his two sons read Agricultural and Earth Sciences
Farm size: Up to 1914, about 600 acres; immediately after the first world war the acreage rose to 1500 acres and later to about 2000 acres
