Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
The Scottish Association of Manufacturing Coppersmiths was formed at a meeting in the offices of their appointed secretaries, Thomson McLintock & Co , chartered accountants, in Glasgow, Scotland, on 27 March 1940 . The association was formed "for the sole purpose meantime of negotiating with the Controller of Non-Ferrous Metals regarding supplies". This was a period of rationing and the Scottish manufacturers decided to negotiate supplies for themselves rather than through the National Association of Copper Cylinder & Boiler Makers in England. The association carried on until 30 September 1977 when it was dissolved.
