Administrative / Biographical History
Kindiesel Shipping Co Ltd , shipowners, Greenock, Inverclyde, Scotland, was incorporated as a limited liability company in 1936 . The company was formed to manage, contract, and build ships and vessels for the coastal trade from Glasgow, around Britain and to Netherlands. The company's directors consisted of the prominent Greenock shipbuilders and owners John Kincaid & Co Ltd, James S Kincaid, John Lang and James Fulton, formerly of the shipowners Lang & Fulton Ltd , and Robert Greer of Greenock. The main stockholders were P MacCallum & Sons Ltd , iron and steel stock holders, Greenock, who also acted as company secretary, and whose shares were held by the Clydesdale Bank Ltd, Glasgow, Scotland.
In 1936 , the company purchased the Kindiesel , owned by John Kincaid & Co Ltd for £12,500. The vessel was a coaster ship of 339 tons built that year in Greenock and by 1939 had carried a total of 27 cargoes. The ship operated the coastal trade until it was sold in 1941 after which time the company operated other vessels. In 1962 , Kindiesel Shipping Co Ltd entered into voluntary liquidation.
