Scope and Content

A small, leather-bound volume containing eulogies in praise of Nathaniel Vechner (or Vechnerus) (an Album amicorum), each containing a short quotation from the scriptures, the classics or other sources (in Hebrew, Latin, Greek, French, Italian, German and English), followed by verse in praise of Nathaniel Vechner, signed and dated by each author, 1646-55. Among the many scholars who contributed an entry for Vechner's book were Johannes Buxtorf (Basle, September 1653), Manasseh ben Israel of Amsterdam, and two fellows of Pembroke College, Cambridge, Abraham Clifford and John Clerk, in May 1654.
