Parish records for parishes in the Archdeaconry of Canterbury

These collections include the wide range of records that one would expect from parish collections. Some parishes are particularly rich in certain types of records: for example, there are some fine collections of settlement material, some early deeds, and some early churchwardens' accounts. There are over 250 parish collections. Each parish is allocated a number. For example, Littleton parish could be U3/95, and this would form the beginning of document references. The Archdeaconry of Canterbury forms the eastern part of the Diocese of Canterbury.

Parish records are catalogued according to a cataloguing scheme used across the Kent Archives Service. This is available for consultation locally.

The Cathedral Archives also holds Bishop's Transcripts and Archdeacon's Transcripts for the Diocese of Canterbury. These are contemporary transcripts of parish registers. They have references CCA DCa/BT and DCb/BT.
