Scope and Content

The collection consists of the personal papers of Dr. Asta Moller, B Litt and D Phil (University of Oxford), MA (University of Edinburgh), who made a substantial contribution to knowledge by her researches into the history of the coal industry. The collection contains:

  • Examination papers in Arts and Science - Danish 1 and 2, March 1916
  • Honours' class examination paper in Political Economy, 1918
  • First class certificates of merit in Economic History and Political Economy, 1918-1919
  • Examination papers in English, 1918
  • Pass certificate in Economic Science, 1920
  • Graduation Ceremonial McEwan Hall, 8 July 1920
  • Letters from other professors and lecturers recommending her for the posts of Lecturer in Economics at King's College for Women, of Warden of Crosby Hall, and of Lecturer in History at the University of Edinburgh, 1920-1934
  • Letter concerning the proposed presentation to a retiring colleague, 1954
  • Examination papers in Political Economy, 1957
  • Staff card from the University of Edinburgh, 1980-1981

  • Training record from St George's Training College signed by Godfrey H. Thomson, July 1934
  • Scottish Education Department teachers' probation certificate, August 1934
  • MA degree certificate in Latin from the University of Edinburgh to Asta Moller, in the following subjects: Economic History, Political Economy, English Literature, Moral Philosophy, and British History.
  • 6 large format photographs of Asta Moller in her graduation gown (4 by Swan Watson).
