Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Limelight is Trafford Housing Trust's flagship community health and wellbeing hub. It provides a range of services to the Old Trafford community as well as being home to extra care residents who reside in the 81 purpose built apartments. These residents represent the rich and diverse community that forms the real Old Trafford.
2018 is the 70th Anniversary for the arrival of the SS Empire Windrush at Tilbury docks. Anniversary celebrations have recognised the pioneering Windrush generation's shaping of British social, cultural and political life. The cultural heritage of the Old Trafford community has certainly been shaped by these events.
In recognition of this anniversary, Limelight celebrated the history of immigration between the UK and the Caribbean by exploring the stories and personal histories of our residents through oral history. This culminated in an exhibition of personal portraits and stories at Limelight between October and December 2018. Interviews and exhibition by David Govier. Curation by Nicole Binns and David Govier. Exhibition design by Rebecca Perry. Photographs by Rik Jundi.
