Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
The Welsh Congregational Church, the Tabernacle, in Shrewsbury, was founded in 1842. Services were initially held in a room in Howard Street but by 1845 this room had become too small for the growing congregation and a small chapel was built on Bide Hill at the cost of £800. During the ministry of Rev. John Davies of Henryd, another chapel was built in Dogpole.
