Scope and Content

Collection of deeds and related documents concerning land and services in France and England. The majority of the deeds relating to land in France are written in French with the remainder in Latin, whilst the majority of the deeds relating to land in England are written in Latin with the remainder in English.

The majority of the documents have typed descriptions attached to them, either glued directly onto the parchment or attached with a paperclip.

Administrative / Biographical History

These original charters, deeds and other documents came into the possession of Ratcliffe College near Syston, Leicestershire, a Roman Catholic day and boarding school founded in 1847 by the Institute of Charity (the Rosminians).

Arrangement

It has not been possible to identify any relationship between the documents. Items have been split according to the country that they relate to and are then arranged in chronological order
