The city of Bangor in north west Wales, according to the 1891 census consisted of a population of over 12,000 people.
Garth is a district within the borough of Bangor which forms the sea front of the town. The area was described in a trade directory for 1895 as ... a picturesque suburb of Bangor ... Fine dwellings have sprung up on all sides, and there are good lodging-houses. This will be the site of the new pier ...
Penrallt was an estate in Bangor. In the late 19th century, it was acquired from Lord Penrhyn as a site for the building of the University College of North Wales.
