University of Birmingham Student (Alumni) Papers: Papers of Eric Childs

Work books and some examination papers relating to his undergraduate courses in Mathematics at the University of Birmingham, 1931-1934, and to his education in Mathematics at Dudley Grammar School, 1928-1931

Eric Childs (b 1915) was educated at Dudley Grammar School and gained his Oxford School Certificate in Mathematics, History, Physics, English and Scripture. He was awarded a Dudley Major Scholarship to attend the University of Birmingham where he studied from 1931-1935. He was awarded a BSc Hons in Mathematics (First Class) in 1934 and a Diploma in Education in 1935. Eric Childs became head of Mathematics at Penistone Grammar School in South Yorkshire
