Papers of Reverend Reginald Swayne Bartram and family

An extensive collection of personal and other correspondence and papers of Reverend Reginald Swayne Bartram. The correspondence includes family and personal letters to him and his wife, letters from traders, parishioners from other clergymen and letters of testimonial; official documents relate to his education and to his clerical service, including licences to officiate and declarations of assent and they also include his death certificate and admission as a freemason. Other papers include printed materials, greetings cards and invoices and receipts.

Reginald Swayne Bartram (1864-1930) was the third son of William Bartram of Chichester, cleric. He was educated at the University of Oxford and he graduated with a BA in 1887. He was ordained a deacon in 1889 and priest in 1890. He was curate of Haydock, 1889-1892, North Meols, 1893-1895, Up-Holland, Lancashire 1896-1900, St Philip's Dewsbury, 1900-1902, Tottington, 1902-1904 and Emmanuel Church, Loughborough, Leics, 1906-1907. In 1907 he became vicar of St John the Baptist, Albrighton, Shropshire where he remained until his death in 1930.
