Comprises: Poetry Room Committee minutes, 1966-1983; Correspondence of the Poetry Room Committee, 1989-1990; Grant applications, 1988-1989; Architect's plans and correspondence, 1967-1979; List of audio cassettes headed 'Poetry Library Audio Collection'; Publicity material, 1967-1990; Correspondence with the British Council relating to audio tape loans and poetry recordings, 1962-1978; Correspondence with individual poets, including Fleur Adcock, Edgar Bowers and Salman Rushdie, 1966-1983.

Administrative / Biographical History

The Poetry Room was a resource where poetry could be read or listened to on audio tapes and records. Recordings of poets reading their work were made in conjunction with Harvard University and the British Council. The Poetry Room Committee also organised poetry reading events.
