    • 1 box, manuscript and printed material. Includes 2 small wooden boxes, 1 small leather suitcase, and 2 box files made in the shape of books and labelled DESMIDIEAE 1 and 2 respectively, with marbled outside edges and imitation cloth boards with blind tooling on the covers.

Scope and Content

Comprises: (1) Bibliographical notes of books on natural disasters; (2) Descriptive and taxonomic notes on the Desmidiaceae, with many manuscript illustrations and a few printed ones also.

Administrative / Biographical History

William Barwell Turner (1845-1917) was a botanist and expert on the Desmidieae. He became President of the Leeds Naturalists' Club in 1881.
