Manchester Society of Braziers and Sheet Metal Workers

Minutes, 1879-88; annual report, 1919; rules, 1903.

The Manchester Tin-Plate Workers' Society was established in 1802. The Society was a founder member of the General Tramping Union of Tin-Plate Workers in 1861. It was renamed the Manchester Society of Braziers and Sheet Metal Workers in 1890 and affiliated to the National Amalgamated Tin-Plate Workers of Great Britain. In 1920 it amalgamated with other affiliated local societies to form the National Union of Sheet Metal Workers and Braziers.
