Administrative / Biographical History
By his will, dated 3 July 1735, registered 10 October 1740, Dr John Anderson, of the island of St Christophers, left provisions for maintaining free schools in the parishes of Kemnay and Chapel of Garioch, Aberdeenshire, for providing annuities for certain clergymen performing Divine Service according to the liturgy of the Church of England within the city of Aberdeen, and for other charitable purposes within the city and county of Aberdeen. Trustees were appointed to administer the legacies of his fund, which was still current in 1991
