The Llewelyn Davies papers contain letters from Mary Llewelyn Davies (1834-1895), nee Crompton (sister-in-law of Emily Davies) to her daughter Margaret Llewelyn Davies (c1861-1944). The letters were written between 1874 and 1894, many of them while Margaret was at Girton (1881-83). A number of the letters contain enclosures.

Administrative / Biographical History
Margaret Caroline Llewelyn Davies was born in 1861. She was the niece of Emily Davies and studied at Girton College 1881-1883 but left before taking the Tripos. She was a keen socialist, pacifist and internationalist and was General Secretary of the Women's Co-operative Guild 1889-1921. She published pamphlets on social and political questions and edited two collections of letters from working women, 'Maternity and Life as we have known it' and 'The Women's Co-operative Guild', 1883-1904.
