Eaton Stannard Barrett (1786-1820), an Irish born writer and poet, wrote a number of political satires, a mock romance, The Heroine (which reached a third edition) and a comedy My Wife, What Wife? , but he is best known for his poem on Women. This was first published in Women and other poems in 1810 and subsequent editions appeared in 1819, 1822 and 1846.
