Administrative / Biographical History
John Vickers was born at Stainforth in 1800 and on 8 July 1819 enlisted in the 33rd Regiment of Foot at Lincoln. He served in the West Indies from 1822 to 1832 and in other British possessions until discharged as unfit for service in 1844, when he apparently returned to Stainforth.
