Administrative / Biographical History

Bulmer's History and directory of the East Yorkshire (1892) describes Scorborough Hall as "a modern mansion in the cottage style ... which was for many years the residence of James Hall, Esq., Master of the Holderness foxhounds". In 1859 James Hall paid for the rebuilding of St Leonard's Church in Scorborough. Pluckham and Thixendale are in the parish of Wharram Percy, in the wapentake of Buckrose.
