Mollie Gofton was born in 1916 in Darlington, England. Mollie was educated Scotland at Dundee High School, Dundee, and Lenzie Academy, Lenzie, East Dunbartonshire, and proceeded to attend the Glasgow & West of Scotland College of Domestic Science (Incorporated) , Glasgow, Scotland, on leaving school. She studied for the housewife’s certificate, dressmaker’s certificate, needlework and cutting out certificate, embroidery certificate, high class cook’s certificate and the needlework medal during the period 1933-1937 . She worked in West Kirby Grammar School, West Kirby, Wirral, England, retiring as matron after 28 years of service. She died in 2000.
