Scope and Content

Cartoon presenting the route students must take in order to reach their goal, De Montfort University. The University is presented as a castle on top of a steep hill. which students are preparing to climb. The 'compact route attainable by all' is shown as a winding path, while those who do not follow the compact path encounter mishaps. This image is a black and white sketch.

Administrative / Biographical History

Cartoon presented to De Montfort University to mark the formal launch of a 'compact agreement' with the Sir John Gleed Technology School. The compact system allowed a pupil to study at a designated college, making them 'compact' with the university to have an automatic entry to a degree course. The idea behind this was to make university more attainable. The Sir John Gleed Technology School was based in Spalding, Lincolnshire.
