Scope and Content

Diary of William Hibbs Bevan (c. 1788-1846) of Glannant, Crickhowell, co. Brecon, ironmaster, containing brief, intermittent entries, 1833-1846, relating to his personal and domestic affairs, business activities (cf. the NLW typescript lists of the Maybery records) and public duties, together with geological notes on the South Wales coalfield and the chemical composition of various types of British coal. Continued after his death by his wife, Margaret Ann Bevan, the entries, 1846-1872 (ff. 95v-108v), mostly recording the deaths of members of her family.
