John Gibbe and Richard Taunte of Little Eversden confirm their gift (with warranty) to Thomas Taunte, Thomas Adam, Thomas Neweman, John Chamberleyn, and William Taunte, of all their lands and appurtenances in the vills and fields of Little and Great Eversden, late belonging to Peter Neweman, which lands and tenements they held by virtue of a gift and feoffment from Thomas Neweman, Thomas Taunte, and Thomas's wife Ellen. By the attached saving clause, Ellen Taunte is to enjoy the above properties for her life, with reversion to John Neweman, son of the said Ellen and Peter Neweman. If John Neweman dies before his mother, his executors are permitted to sell the property in order to implement the terms of his will, but if Thomas Taunte is living at the time of such a sale he is to be given first refusal at the sum of ten marks. Deed poll, witnessed by William Herynge, William Baroun', Thomas Grandone, William Saykyn, William Patte, Nicholas Roger, and many others. Two red round seals on separate tags: 'R' monogram and 'shield' motif. Condition sewn to LH margin of the gift. Endorsed in ?seventeenth-century hand: 'Evirsdon etc', and in pencil '46' and (the condition) '46A'.
