Scope and Content

The collection contains the early records of the Northamptonshire Grammar School from 1989, when it was founded, through to 1994. During this time Malcolm Tozer was the school's first headmaster who collected these records and later donated them to the University's Archive.

The collection consists of of an early BBC computer, a collection of 5¼ inch floppy discs, a series of print-outs from the discs, school diaries and ephemera. The collection documents the first six years in the life of the school.

Administrative / Biographical History

The Northamptonshire Grammar School collection was personally collated by Dr Malcolm Tozer. Malcolm was the founding headmaster of Northamptonshire Grammar school from 1989 - 1994, and helped to set up the school.

The collection includes: administrative documents relation to the setting-up of the school prior to 1989, administrative documents relating to the running of the school, school newsletters, PTA documentation, letters home to parents, speeches and documentation relating to open days and fundraising events, reports on the progress of the school, and communications between headmaster and the board of governors.

The collection also includes a 1986 BBC Master Series Microcomputer, an Epson LX-800 printer, a BBC Microcomputer System Dual Disc Drive, a Cumana single disc drive, a Panasonic colour TV (model TC-14B4R), and assorted connection cables.

The collection was donated to the University of Northampton Archive in August 2010.

Arrangement

The collection has been arranged into four boxes.

Boxes one and two contain printed records from 5¼ inch floppy discs. Boxes three and four contain uncatalogued material, including books, 5¼ inch floppy discs, floppy disc index lists, and printed administrative information relating to the school.

The collection also includes a 1986 BBC Master Series Microcomputer, an Epson LX-800 printer, a BBC Microcomputer System Dual Disc Drive, a Cumana single disc drive, a Panasonic colour TV (model TC-14B4R), and assorted connection cables.

While most of the collection is accessible to everyone, some restrictions are in place in order to protect personal data.
