Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Formed in 1886 as the Amalgamated Association of Card and Blowing Room Operatives, the name was changed in 1924 to include ring spinners. The name changed to National Association of Card, Blowing and Ring Room Operatives in 1952 and to the National Union of Textile and Allied Workers in 1968. In 1974 it became part of the Amalgamated Textile Workers Union and in 1986 it became part of the General, Municipal, Boilermakers and Allied Trades Union
