Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
The Llantarnam estate included land in the parish of Llanfihangel Llantarnam, Monmouthshire, in the manors of Redcastle and Magna Porta. Henry and Blanch Phillip held land in the parish from [c.1779]. Their son, Henry Phillips (fl. 1766-1801), held the land during the late 18th century. His widow, Ann Phillips (d. [c.1858]) continued to hold the land until [c.1852], when all her landed and personal estate was divided between her two daughters, Blanch and Elizabeth. John Jenkins [fl. 1854-1860] of Caerleon, Monmouthshire, held lands in Caerleon during the mid 19th century. He devised his estate to his wife, Margaret and his sons, William and Alexander Howell.
