They are particulalry informative about certain aspects of his Lord Chancellorship, especially his part in the Indian Round Table Conference, and they contain a certain amount of interesting general political material.
John Sankey, Viscount Sankey of Moreton (1866-1948), became a judge in the King's Bench division and later in the Court of Appeal and was Lord Chancellor from 1929 to 1935. He was chairman, in 1915, of the Home Office aliens advisory committee, in 1919 of the coal industry commission and, during his Lord Chancellorship, of the inter-imperial relations committee of the imperial conference and the federal structure committee of the Indian Round Table Conference.
