Scope and Content

519 black and white photographs of rides, engines, shows and acts from a variety of fairs and shows. There are 20 booklets of newspaper cuttings from 'The World's Fair' including 'British Fairground Society Notes', 1949-1963, a directory of these scrap books (which refer to content only) and 3 other books of newspaper cuttings relating to fairs, particularly in the Lancashire area. The photographs form part of our database image collection.

Administrative / Biographical History

Harry Poole is one of a number of fairground enthusiasts and preservationists active in the steam rally scene who has donated items to the National Fairground Archive. The collection covers the whole of the 20th century and contains images of traction engines, rides, fairground and people. The digitisation and cataloguing of the collection was funded by the Pilgrim Trust.
