Its partners were Yorkshire woollen merchants who simultaneously established a bank in Leeds, called Nicholson, Brown & Co. The London business moved to Abchurch Lane in 1815. Following partnership changes, it was renamed Brown, Janson & Co in 1823. Lloyds Bank took over the firm in 1900.
